A BC Rail Disaster Waiting to Happen? Audit Bolsters Warnings the Risk Is Too High

A recent report has found that there are gaps in Transport Canada's regulation of rail transportation when it comes to ensuring that issues of non-compliance are corrected, and that all emergency plans are in place. Towns and citizens along the northern BC rail corridor are starting to raise serious concerns as the transportation of dangerous goods by rail is slated to increase significantly in the coming months as propane export terminals are proposed on the coast in Kitimat and Prince Rupert.
