Martindale calls for public forum, even without Enbridge participation

The Enbridge Northern Gateway proposal was once again a topic of discussion as Terrace city council held its first regular meeting in nearly a month.
Karen Campbell of the Pembina Institute delivered a presentation to council which condemned Northern Gateway as too risky to the environment and unwanted by a growing number of people.
Following the presentation, Councillor Bruce Martindale weighed in on Enbridge’s refusal to participate in a public forum on the project that would have been co-hosted by the city.
“Just because Enbridge has decided that they don’t want to participate in that forum doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t find a way, and we shouldn’t show some leadership, to bring a forum forward that allows that discussion to continue.
Martindale says he’s spoken to many local business people willing to passionately support Northern Gateway.
Council voted unanimously in favour of continuing to support a public forum on the project.
