Environmental Group Urges Kitimat Residents to Vote NO on Northern Gateway

Douglas Channel Watch has launched a campaign encouraging the people of Kitimat to vote 'No' in the upcoming plebiscite vote on the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project.

Spokesman Murray Minchin addressed Kitimat Council last night, explaining the increasing interest from media across the country and around the world, coupled with the advertising push from Enbridge to try to sell the project, was what prompted the campaign.

"It was a real wake up call for us, because we're here in Kitimat, at the end of the road -- to see how significant this plebiscite really is. And it was the BBC contacting us to schedule interviews before and after the plebiscite that really woke us up to the fact that people are watching us and this is serious," said Minchin.

He adds the campaign has begun with Douglas Channel Watch members and supporters door knocking in Kitimat to encourage voting.
