Hundreds Take Part in Anti-Enbridge Rally in Prince Rupert
Over 500-people from around the region rallied in Prince Rupert yesterday, against Enbridge’s proposed Northern Gateway Project.
The rally was timed to coincide with the company’s major sponsorship of the North Central Local Government Association’s annual convention taking place in Prince Rupert.
Haisla Band Councillor Gerald Amos says he was offended when he learned that Enbridge was one of the platinum sponsors of the convention.
“I’m telling you I was insulted that the people that are representing the communities around us see fit to accept a platinum sponsorship from a company that most of their constituents don’t agree with,” Amos told the crowd.
Waving anti-Enbridge placards and posters, the protesters took part in a walk along the waterfront and past the Chances Casino and Convention Centre where over 200 delegates of the NCLGA were attending a dinner and dance.
