LNG Canada to Build Two Salt Marshes
Vessels are arriving in Kitimat to dredge for the LNG Canada project despite the project not having a final investment decision. Dredging will impact fish habitat. The Kitimat River Side Channel and a portion of Beaver Creek will be diverted. LNG Canada will be constructing new fish habitat as an offset. However, based on this article, the viability of these new habitats has not yet been determined although they were approved by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
